Frequently Asked Questions
When am I available?
Weekdays 9am to 8pm.
Saturday 9am to 7pm
How often should we meet?
Usually once a week for a 45- 50 minute individual session and a 60 minute couple session. Every two weeks can be arranged, but the flow of counseling is much smoother on a weekly basis.
Do I accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance. I do however, provide an invoice at the end of each month for out-of-network reimbursement and you can submit to your health insurance company. I accept personal checks and cash. My fee is $120 per individual session and $160 per couple session. Payment is due after each session.
I believe that an individual's therapy is their own, not an insurance company’s. I am not an in-network provider, don’t participate in managed care plans, and don’t accept assignment of benefits. That means you pay me directly and can submit for reimbursement if you choose. However, before deciding to use your insurance, please consider the following:
Confidentiality: Managed care plans often require detailed information about you and the problem you need help with. That information is not protected.
Control of Treatment: Your insurance company—not you or I—will decide if treatment is “medically necessary” and how much of it you may receive.
Psychiatric Diagnosis: Insurance requires a psychiatric diagnosis that becomes part of your record.
As a licensed Mental Health Counselor, my services usually do qualify for patient reimbursement under most plans. My fees are generally considered within the “usual and customary” range (UCR), but please check with the company in advance. If you wish to submit for reimbursement, I will provide you with an invoice for services provided.
Why do people go to therapy?
Some people come into therapy fully aware of a problem and simply need help in sorting through the issues. Others have a vague notion of something wrong and ask for help in clarifying the problem. When you enter into therapy, you set out on a journey that has the potential to change your entire outlook on life.
What about Confidentiality concerns?
Clients often ask questions about how their rights as consumers of mental health services will be protected by the therapist and by applicable State and Federal laws. There is legal privilege in the State of New York protecting the confidentiality of the private information you share with me. As a licensed and certified professional, I strive to maintain the strictest ethical standards of confidentiality. Your privacy is important and is guarded with all legal limits. If you have questions about the limits of confidentiality, I will be glad to respond either by phone or in person
